The Edge

Last Thursday was the Annual Press Day for the Sale Sharks and they celebrated this by inviting the guys and gals from all the good press houses down to...Carrington? Nope. Edgely? Nope. They all came to the new home of North West Rugby Union, Salford City Stadium. With the weather as it has been it was amazing to be greeted by the blistering sun.

I got invited to come along to do some video shots and 1 (hopefully 2... these guys are in demand!) interviews. I was greeted by smiley sweaty faces. The guys had started their day at Barton with a training session. On Tuesday I went to a Touch Rugby session (first go) and it isn’t until you try it that you understand how demanding rugby is. Not just on your body but mentally as well. You have to be aware of EVERYTHING. Where people are, where the ball is, who is hurtling towards you and all the while making sure you are either on side, or running forwards. And who said men can’t multitask. The guys looked good training. Speedy and sharp. It made me really look forward to Mark Ceuto’s testimonial match against Glasgow, at their old stomping ground, Heywood Road.

Like I said, it was a press day. Lots of press had gathered, from the likes of the Locals, to the BBC and Sky Sports was there. Even my home counties newspaper, The News and Star! (Cumbrian’s are everywhere!) New signings or Richie Gray and Danny Cipriani were in high demand, as well as Sale Sharks ‘One-Club’ Man, Mark Ceuto. After the training session the lads swaps their sweaty tops for the new Canterbury kit for photos and then interviews. They looked smashing. I had my camera filming bits and pieces throughout the day. Obviously the sane thing to do with the footage was to put it to a 1960 Dave McCallum "The Edge" because that's what Sale has coming into this season.

Then I had the pleasure of filming an interview with new Captain, Dave Seymour (utter Gent).
