The League Bug is Growing

On Friday 29th June, Salford City Reds played host to neighbours Warrington Wolves... and kicked their arse! Reds 48- Wolves 24.

I had a groupon ticket (2 for 1) and took my mate Joe. Joe is possibly looking for a new team to support, as his Bradford Bulls go into administration this week, much to his disappointment. I think he picked a pretty awesome game to start supporting Reds.

Just like the previous Reds match I went to, where they beat the Catalan Dragons, the Salford Reds proved yet again that you should never underestimate the underdog.
Catalan Dragons are no. 3 in the league tables with Warrington Wolves coming in at 2nd. Salford Reds are 10th!

Warrington, for 60 minutes, just didn't seem to be awake. There were holes in the defence that allowed the Reds to all but walk to the Try line. However they did wake up in the second half, much to the joy of their slowly quieting travelling support.

Maybe it's the new stadium? Who knows, but Salford were definitely reaping the home advantage. Just a shame that a missed conversion at the end left Salford on 48 instead of the deserved 50 points.

All in all it was a great match to watch. So far at Salford City Stadium, I have been in the East and West stands, but from the noise coming from the terrace, I can wait to be in amongst it when Sale Sharks start playing at SCS.
