#SharksInTheCity

Friday 13th usually makes you think of bad luck and a excuse to watch horror films. Not this one. The only bad luck today was the drizzly weather, which, when you consider that you are in Manchester and drizzle is generally a daily feature, you couldn't let it put a dampener on the day. And why was it a good day? Well, Sale Sharks were in Manchester City Centre for their launch of their new kit in Spinningfields. And I, naturally (hey its Rugby!)  was there.

From the safety of the stands, you watch them in a match and they all preform epically, but its only when you see them up close that you realise how Gladiatorial they actually are. They are really big chaps.

The open training session began at 12 with a run down Deansgate. Watching them during the training sessions, taking photos, it struck me how the old faces interacted with the new one. They are all mates. Bantering, making jokes, having fun. This to me, seems a recipe for success. An apt tweet I seen RTed by @RugbyDiehards from @Scrumhalf_jack9 "either we win as a team, or die as individuals" No egos, team spirit, I can totally see us being in the top four come the end of next season. Bring it!

The open training session doubled as a kit launch and the launch of the partnership between Capital Properties (the group which owns Spinningfields).

The kit launch was introduced by Steve Hanley. The new supplier of the Sale Sharks kit and many other Rugby Clubs (including England) is Canterbury. Personally, I really like what Canterbury produces. Its stylish and just plain nice.

The lovely models, showing off the new kits was Andy Powell, Mark Cueto and new boy Danny Cipriani. They came onto stage, the kit being hidden from view by a zipped jumper. The call came Steve and the boys unzipped their jumpers. I couldn't help it... It was in my head and probably everyone else's.

Its a dapper kit for a dapper squad. And yes, you may of noticed that it doesn't say "Sale Sharks". This doesn't mean that they have changed their name. They will always be Sale Sharks, and the fact that it isn't on every bit of kit and merchandise doesn't mean that they have lost Sale. Newcastle Falcons went through the exact same thing [Click Here]. They are still Newcastle Falcons even though Newcastle is not on their jersey. Plus on top of that, the website is still Sale Sharks. You know where they have come from, they know where they have come from. So please, no handbags yeah?

All in all this season looks to kick off in style with the pre season games. I'm looking forward to the Glasgow match. If Ryan Grant, Al Kellock and basically all the members from the Scotland team are there, you can expect a Cheshire Cat grin from me.
